My mother-in-law kindly showed her coconut de-husking and wacking-open skills for me while I recorder her doing it. She’s very accommodating. 
Here’s the result.
It’s only 1:25 long and well worth watching.

Oh, I hear you. She’s absolutely fearless and just gets the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible. She’s also been cracking open coconuts for, I’m guessing, close to five decades.
I’m not as good as her – I take 6 wacks or more. But it’s not that difficult. Really.
Also, while it’s true that she used the sharp side of that knife, I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use the blunt side of the knife. And she usually does, too, except that knife’s sharp side is rather dull anyway.
