Spicy Mustard Chicken Curry

March 28, 2010

A month and a half back, Fahim and I were returning home when we saw this truck. … Cuz I really don’t think we’re in an alternate universe right now, you know? As it turns out, we got our answer when the car we were in passed the truck.

Mmm… Curried Chicken Sandwich… Mmm…

October 28, 2009

I made another batch of Kaiser Soze Rolls, this time with the no-honey substitutions, and it turned out beautifully! Lunchtime came around, so I made myself a sandwich. Kaiser Soze Rolls with shredded curried chicken; bell peppers, cucumber, and onion; and of course homemade mayonnaise. Yum! Tags: lunch, bread, rolls, kaiser rolls, mayonnaise Share and [...]

Kaiser Soze Rolls

October 17, 2009

I think "life is an experiment" is a phrase I take way too seriously. I needed a recipe for buns – I’d been craving a Subway meatball sub, and since the nearest Subway is in India, I figured the only way I was going to get a meatball sub would be to make my own. [...]

Lunch on Eid ul-Fitr

September 21, 2009

We opted to get outside food this Eid. It’s so much less work and so much less tiring. Unfortunately, it’s not quite as good as homemade. We ordered the mutton biryani package from Miami Catering. The mutton biryani came with six hard-boiled eggs and 1 kg mutton (minimum! they say). It also came with 1 [...]

Breakfast on Eid ul-Fitr

September 21, 2009

Eid ul-Fitr is the day marking the end of Ramadan for Muslims. Eid is one of the most important days for Muslims, similar to Christmas for Christians. Breakfast isn’t eaten until the men return from the mosque for festival prayers at around 8:30 am. Today was a fairly typical breakfast for Eid ul-Fitr or other [...]

Mama Farook’s Sri Lankan Chilli Potatoes

September 20, 2009

Because it’s Ramadan, and it’s difficult for Fahim to eat a full meal when breakfast has to be done by 4:30am, enough to carry him through the next 14 hours until he can eat again, he gets to make requests. At the beginning of Ramadan, Fahim had asked for his mother’s chilli potatoes. While she’s [...]
